ABOUT US

The Vision of YWAM Taipei Ministries is to Evangelize, Disciple and Send people into Frontier Missions. Our goal is to see people equipped and released onto the mission field. All of our training programs are for the completion of this goal.  We focus not only on knowing God, but also emphasize making God known. We desire to see people’s lives firmly grounded in the truth and able to take all they have learned and share with those who are in need, wholly devoted to the calling God has given them for the frontier mission field.

Regardless of whether we are already serving long term on the mission field or feel called to come and to receive short term training, we corporately share the identity of a sending base being a support to those we send out. We desire to see a revival of missionary movement within Taiwan and a missionary heart flourishing among the Taiwanese people, believing that God will greatly use the Taiwanese to transform this generation.

WE ARE A PART OF THE YWAM FAMILY

Youth With A Mission is a global movement, started by a group of believers of different cultures and ages and Christian traditions, with the purpose of serving Jesus all over the world.

YWAM was started in 1960 by Loren Cunningham in California, USA. The earliest vision was to push young Christians to practically serve and contribute to society by holding onto the examples of Christ’s selflessness, faith and love, while preaching the gospel to all nations.

Through evangelism, pioneering work, discipleship training, community service/mercy ministries, YWAM has been able to train and equip Christians and short term missions staff all over the world. Back when YWAM began in 1960, the main focus was to get youth involved in missions. Today, YWAM is still focused on youth, and also involves people aged 9 to 90. YWAM currently has tens of thousands of staff (called “YWAMers”) and works in thousands of teams and locations. YWAM has become the largest interdenominational missions organization in the world, doing both evangelistic ministries as well as community development/mercy ministries. Also, according to God’s first call, from our founder down to every staff member all over the world, all are volunteers without paid salary.

YWAM TAIPEI MISSION STATEMENT

We look at our ministry location with the desire to fulfill the three different facets of YWAM ministry: “Evangelism and Frontier Missions”, “Training”, and “Mercy ministries”. Each one of these has the same goal to work toward fulfilling our mission statement.

Frontier Missions and reaching the unreached is the heart and soul of our base. It is the driving passion of everything that we do in Taipei Ministries. For some people Taipei is a frontier setting, and for others it is simply the place of preparation before being sent to other frontiers.

Our ultimate goal is to see people trained and released into missions. Because of this all of our training programs will be focused on accomplishing this goal.

  • The DTS will not only focus on ‘‘knowing God.’’ but will have a strong emphasis on ‘‘making Him known.’’ Thus the vision for DTS is not only to make disciples, but to make ‘‘disciple makers’’ who will go to the nations.
  • The SBS/TITUS will continue to lay a strong biblical foundation in people’s lives so that they can take what they have learned and reproduce the teaching on the field for those who have no teacher.
  • The SOFM will focus on fully preparing candidates to be successful long-term missionaries on whatever ‘‘frontier’’ God has called them to.

Although we recognize not everyone is called to leave home long term, sending will continue to be the emphasis of our base. At the same time, we realize the value and importance of support staff and those who are called to be involved in training to accomplish this task. We are aware that those on the front lines will not survive unless they have a good support staff’’ behind them.

As a base we will continue to work together to see a missions movement started in Taiwan and to send more and more missionaries out to the field. At the same time we will continue to properly care for the missionaries that are here as well as those we have already sent out.

OUR CORE VALUES

The following are what we as YWAM Taipei consider our foundation for ministry. These are part of the 18 YWAM Core Values.

  • Biblical Foundation: We value the Bible as God’s authoritative and inspired Word and believe He intends it to be our guide and final judge on all matters related to belief, conduct and ministry. [2 Tim 3:16-17 / Psalm 119:105]
  • Family: We believe God equally values ministry and family and believe mothers should be released and encouraged to care for and disciple their children at home [Deut 11:18-21 / Titus 2:4-5]
  • Personal Evangelism: We believe in evangelism as a lifestyle; that every believer, regardless of what ministry they’re called to be part of, should also be involved in personal evangelism to the lost. [1 Pt 3:15 / Matt 5:14-16 / 1 Cor 9:16-17]
  • Ongoing Discipleship: We believe discipleship is a life-long need of every believer and thus value accountability and transparency through committed, regular mutually edifying relationships. [2 Tim 2:2 / Eph 4:15-16]
  • Frontier Missions: We place a high value on God’s mandate to reach ALL peoples everywhere and are called as a base to focus on bringing the gospel to the unreached and forgotten peoples of the world. [Rom 10:14-17 / Rev 5:9]
